About

Hi! My name is Jennifer Salierno

I am passionate about my work, helping others make sense of how they view and interact with the world while fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere. Outside of therapy, I love a good cup of coffee and yes, I definitely need it to function. I am obsessed with my dog and have a soft spot for all animals; often being told I am easily distracted when any animal is around. I love to relax on a white sand beach admiring crystal blue water, the nature pictures on my site are from my vacations. My approach is rooted in empathy, although I do not shy away from challenging my clients, but my goal is ensuring you feel heard and understood while guiding you toward change.

My Story

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) and member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. I have been privileged to practice since 2013, working with individuals and couples throughout California.

For over 5 years, I worked at Center for Healthy Sex in Los Angeles, where I had the amazing opportunity to help many with their recovery from sex, love and pornography addiction.

My long and winding road to becoming a therapist began with growing up in a small conservative town, being raised Catholic, and attempting to navigate the many mixed messages from society, cultural norms, and family values. I found myself engaged in unhealthy behaviors feeling shame, isolation and desperately trying to numb the pain.

My educational journey began after a difficult divorce, I received a bachelor's in psychology from Chapman University, moved to Los Angeles where I then received a master's in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. I continue my educational focus with the integration of mind and body through better understanding of affect dysregulation and connected disorders of the self.

I am certified in Guided Drawing, an approach that supports trauma-informed body mapping through bilateral drawing. I have experience with work in somatic, polyvagal, and attachment therapy. My approach is "bottom-up processing" which focuses on the processing and understanding of raw sensory input and stimuli.

Using both my experience and education, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to offer a safe space for others, helping them to make sense of their own lives and heal.
